Disconnect the negative battery terminal and wait 5 minutes before handling any harness connectors.

Use a trim pry tool to carefully remove the center console surround panel to access the head unit without cracking plastic clips.

Identify the main data harness connector on the rear of your COMAND or MBUX head unit — this is the retrofit module connection point.

Unplug the factory harness from the head unit. Connect the retrofit module inline — male end to the head unit, factory harness to the female end. Both connections lock with an audible click.

Route the included USB cable from the retrofit module to your preferred phone access point and tuck excess cable behind the console trim.

Reinstall all trim panels, reconnect the battery, start the vehicle, and connect your device via USB. CarPlay or Android Auto should launch automatically.
